Wallpaper has recently made a comeback and I did want tot try my hand at it in the master bathroom. I used peel and stick wallpaper on my hall tree makeover with ease and thought I’d give real wallpaper a try. I watched a few videos and honestly it seemed super easy. The bathroom is not large so I figured it wouldn’t take too long.
They suggest priming your surface with a color match to the wallpaper background. My local Home Depot had a paint shortage so I could not get the correct kind of paint in the color that I needed – mistake #1. Spoiler: you can totally see my seams because of the white paint contrast with the dark wallpaper

They recommend starting with a laser level so your first piece is straight. I did that by the way but by the time I papered all the way around the room my seam was crooked ~old house things~
You then have to liberally apply glue so you can slide the paper into position (remember you have to match up those patterns and seams). You need lots of excess and trim to the wall. I watched lots of videos on how to do corners and such…it did not help. I could not seem to cut the paper in the correct spot ever and there are sections that I had to touch up.
I also want to point out there was not a single section of wall that was straightforward. there was either a corner or the window, or the door, or the light and the mirror. EVERY SINGLE PIECE HAD SOMETHING. Out of this WHOLE build. Redoing the WHOLE entire bathroom and all the annoying plumbing issues. If I could choose one thing that I wish I hired someone for. IT WOULD BE THE WALLPAPER.

At first glance it does look very nice. I do really like the wallpaper now that it is up. There are imperfections that I look at every time I sit on the toilet though and I’ve learned to live with it. I told my husband never let me do wallpaper by myself again and remind me how much I hated doing the bathroom anytime I even THINK I could. Would I wallpaper again, only if I hire someone.
